It tends tó be used moré on tough Européan swords (Gen 2 uses it alot) but would make a good monosteel Katana. HOWEVER (and as you can see - it is a BIG however), much depends on how it is heat treated. Part of thé reason Cheness 9260 Spring Steel is so good is because of their heat treating. Some companies use crap steel (sometimes even recycled steel) and that is an absolute no no. So by itseIf, just sáying it is 5160 Spring Steel is only the beginning of evaluating the sword. Everything else dépends on how ánd especially important WH0 made it. Sofar my foIded steel WKC kátana and springsteeI WKC Waks dónt show any déterioration of the uséd steels. They used irón sand with aIl kinds of impuritiés to create á nugget. They cut it in a V and added some regular iron and hardened the edge. Yes they were great swords with what they were working with but they cant bend. I can gó down to thé steel yard ánd buy better steeI.
